■ I spend too much time (in) choosing what to wear. choosing은 time과 choosing 사이에 in이 생략 됐다고 보고 동명사라고 보는게 타당하죠. 일주일전에 나왔던 Try to limit time checking email도 time 과 checking 사이에 in이 생략됐다고 간주하고 동명사로 보는게 적당한것 같네요.■ I think we've got more clothes than we need. have got = 've got = have.■ I cannot throw away the ones that I don't wear anymore. ones = clothes. throw away는 구동사라 the ones만 있으면 throw away 사이에 넣을 수 있지만 이문장에서는 that 이하의 절 I don't wear anymore가 the ones를 수식하기 때문에 전체적인 목적어가 길어져서 반드시 throw away사이에 넣을 수 없고 throw away the ones that ~ 라고 해야 돼요. 영어에서는 목적어가 길어지면 뒤로 보내는 경향이 있죠.■ Why don't we donate them somewhere? why don't we는 왜 우리는 ~하지 않니? 라는 직역이니 의역은 How about donating them somewhere? 정도 되겠죠. 미국에서는 각 가정마다 donate할 것이 있냐고 기증회사에서 종종 전화가 옵니다. donate할 품목이 있으면 그 회사에다 전화해서 집 밖에다 내 놓으면 그 회사에서 pick up해 가요.■ Let's pick out the clothes. pick out은 자기들이 안 입는 옷들을 pick(집어서)해서 밖으로(out) 내놓는 nuance 죠.
