■ Do you haggle when you go shopping? 흥정하다 = haggle = bargain.■ It depends where I go shopping. depend는 자동사라 뒤에 명사가 오면 on을 쓰지만 이 문장은 절 (주어+동사)가 와서 on을 없앤것에 유의하면 되겠네요.■ Could you give me some pointers? pointer는 본뜻은 뭔가를 가르키거나 지시하는 것이죠. 여기서는 advice, 요령, 방법의 뜻으로 쓰였네요. 요령을 터득하다는 get the knack, get the hang 이라고 해요.■ Ask around and find out what a fair price is. ask around는 여기저기 누구에게 물어보는 거고 shop around는 더 낮은 가격을 구할려고 이 가게 저 가게 찾아다는것이죠. fair market value(price)는 시장 공정가격을 의미하는 말이죠. 만약 중고차를 사러 다닌다고 가정하면 그 차에 해당하는 fair market value를 알아야 싼지 비싼지 알 수있겠죠. 백화점같은 정찰제의 고정가격은 미국에서는 fixed price라고해요. call around은 더 싼 가격을 얻을려고 여기저기 전화하는 것을 말하고요.
