오늘은 부사로 very much의 뜻이 있는 far, 주로 최상급 앞에 붙는 by far. 그리고 은근 헷갈리는 farther, farthest, further, furthest 를 공부합니다// 1. far 가 부사로 쓰일땐 very much의 뜻이 있어요. 그래서 오늘 본문에 they’re far too dangerous. 라고 하면, 그들은 굉장히 아주 위험하단 뜻이에요. 전자렌지가 아주 위험하다는건 일반적으로 좀 makes sense 하지 않을 수 있죠. 제대로 쓰면 안전하니까요^^ 가령, She loses her temper far too often. 그녀는 그의 성질을 굉장히 자주 잃어(자주 흥분해) 1-1. far는 비교급 앞에도 올수 있어요. This microwave is far better than that. 이 전자렌지가 저것 보다 훨씬 좋아. 여기서 far는 부사로 much의 뜻이 됩니다. 2. by far// by a great amount: 굉장히 (양/질적으로) 많은/우수한. 입니다. [가시적인 거리+ 보이지 않는 거리]에 다 쓰일수 있기에 그렇답니다. ▪We can’t go any further; the road’s blocked. 우리는 더 갈수 없어, 도로가 막혔거든.
