Let me see what else I can give up. 오늘은 give의 구동사(동사+전치사)에 관해 공부해 볼께요.[give away 사물(대상)] [give out 사물(대상)] give가 그냥 '주다'의 뜻이라면, give away, give out 이라고 하면, '기부하다', '나누어주다', '분배하다(distribute)'의 뜻이 됩니다. The bank was giving away calendars this week. 은행은 이번 주에 달력을 나누어주는 중이었다. The toy shop gave balloons out to children today. 장남감 가게가 오늘 아이들에게 풍선을 나누어줬다. [give 사람 away] give하고 away 사이에 '사람'이 들어가면, 그 사람의 비밀(secret), 본래 모습(real identity)이 '밝혀지다'. '드러나게 하다'는 뜻입니다. Bob dressed as Santa Clause, but his cologne gave him away. Bob은 산타클로스 복장을 했지만 향수 때문에 그의 정체가 드러났다. The bank robber’s raspy voice gave him away and he was easily identified. 은행 강도범의 탁한 목소리가 그가 누군지 들통이 났고 그는 쉽게 신원이 확인되었다. He’s not such a flexible guy. 나는 월차를 팀장님에게 요청하는 것을 포기했다. 그는 유두리가 없는 사람이다. He gave up smoking when he was twenty-five. 그는 25살 때, 담배피는 걸 그만두었다.(금연했다).
